105/365 Word
Today’s photo is some words of The Hunger Games book of which I have just finished. Yay!

100/365 Magic Carpet
Here is one of my most recent frags (small bit or coral). This one looks like a wavy carpet to the naked eye. I love the detail of it up close though. I had no idea all that was there.

97/365 Home Sweet Home
Ever have one of those days that you just want to be over? I have many times and it seems that nothing makes me forget about the day quite like sitting down to a good movie or engaging tv show.

90/365 Drops on green
Here is another photo I made since my recent obsession with Macro photography. I love seeing the reflection on the light I was using in every drop.

89/365 Coral
Today’s photo is a macro (close up) of one of the corals in my aquarium. I had no idea there were all those little fingers on it. It was also interesting to see the little fingers open and close like hands as I was in the process of making this photo. Things can be so fascinating up close.

26/365 Computer Tech
Today I am playing computer tech. Here is the insides of a laptop I am attempting to resurrect. Wish me luck!

22/365 Sugar
In a moment of desperation today I decided to photograph my wife’s bracelet that she picked up this weekend in Las Vegas at the Sugar Factory.

18/365 Ice Art
After driving by this Ice Art sculpture/tree many times I thought today would be the perfect day to make a photograph of it. It is pretty crazy looking and at night they have it lit up. Here is a closeup of the ice and below is the entire tree so you can get a feel for what it looks like driving by it.

16/365 Dying Media
As great as cd and dvd discs were when they first came out they have been dying a slow death. Thumb drives, flash drives, compact flash, sd cards, and many other portable storage devices have long since taken their place. Cloud storage takes it even further as there is no device to remember to take with you. Files and photos sync automatically to the cloud and then to other computers and devices. Really cool. Even some laptops don’t come with optical drives. I say good riddance! Cds and dvds are a pain. They get scratched, they are challenging to burn in the first place and then the kicker is that the data or photos on them isn’t going to be on them for more than 5-10 years. What kind of backup is that. I very rarely have any use for them, but I did find one use for a spindle of DVDs I have had sitting in my office for years. I photographed them. With the addition of some creative lighting I give you today’s photo. Enjoy and don’t rely on those old discs you have stuff “backed up” on. If you care about the contents move it somewhere else NOW, before the disc is unreadable.
This concludes this public service announcement

2/365 Guess?
The photo today is a little unusual and I am curious to see if anyone can guess what it is. Leave a comment if you have a guess. Thanks for playing.

Day 111 : Blue Glow
Look familiar? Status lights are everywhere these days. When a room is totally dark they can be very distracting, especially when you are trying to pay attention to a movie.
Day 90 : 2nd Grade
Todays photo was taken when my son left his practice spelling test on the table and it was the most interesting thing I could find at the moment. I can’t help but think that he will never write like this again in his life and how great it will be to have these little memories.
Day 83 : Made from real cows
My wife’s favorite treat when we are on a diet is the infamous Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich. They are really good and much better for a diet than an ordinary ice cream treat of any kind. While they probably aren’t made from real cows milk or cream they sure taste good.
Day 81 : WiLd MaN wILD
Anyone know where this was taken at? hint: it is a local eating establishment.
Day 78 : Blended not stirred!
After yesterdays post I had to start and try new ways to pulverize fruits and vegetables into delicious juices and smoothies. While this photo was made with colored water and not fruit, I love the stopped action and drama. Needless to say this was a bit messy to create.
Day 77 : Gadgets
Kitchen gadgets are a part of everyones lives whether they play a large of small part they are all luxuries that most of us can’t do without. The Bosch Kitchen store in Orem is a treasure trove of kitchen gadgets. We attended a class today in the back of the store on juicing/blending and had a lot of fun. It is a great place to learn what all these different gadgets can really do. Gadgets make cooking and being in the kitchen that much more fun! Especially for me where power tools are welcome in any situation.
Day 67 : Rod Iron Motion
It has been one of those days when my 365 photo was left until the end of the day. Here is what I made.
I like the detail on this fireplace screen/grate but wanted a little more than just the detail and the black color. So I set this up with a longer exposure and then moved the camera in a random fashion to create this photo.
Day 66 : I am Batman!
Another visit to the Dr. for my son. This was taken in the waiting room as he was crawling all over me. This was great way to start a day of what became a not so great verdict on what he needs, surgery. i can’t complain too much though as it is minor, but still it was hard to hear when we were caught so off guard.
Notice he is wearing his home made Batman cape, and as a super hero he did amazingly well with all the tests that they did on him. So proud!
Day 64 : Eye spy with my little eye…
My kids love to play I spy. On our latest building session with Mega Blocks we created the perfect spy glass, or at least my 4 year old thought so.
I really like the bokeh in this photo. It came out just as I had envisioned it even though it was challenging to keep my little subject in the center (he had ants in his pants) and at the same time lining it up with my camera.
Day 61 : Mama said there’ll be days like this…
With only minutes to spare to take a photo for today this is what I came up with. No time and no energy. Mama said there’ll be days like this,
There’ll be days like this Mama said…
