Day 25 : Who needs a pocket full of sunshine when a bag full will do?

To celebrate the first day of Trunk Shows for this season I took one of my wife’s Matilda Jane Clothing bag and lit it up. Instead of lighting it from the front I thought it made a more interesting photo to light from the inside. Lighting it like this gave it a lot more texture and isn’t as flat looking. Enjoy and to all the Trunk Keepers out there, good luck!

Day 24 : The Fabric of our Lives

I spent the day re-covering our bar stools with this fabric and thought that the pattern may look nice as a design element for a card or something in the future.

Day 23 : Mr. Urchin

This is the sea urchin that resides in our aquarium. My boys named him Mr. Urchin the first day we got him. He has grown a lot in the past year and I am always amazed at how long his spikes get.

I like this photo because of all the detail. Even more I love it because it is interesting that he is red after being hit with a speed light. He is usually black with small traces of blue under the metal halide aquarium lights. So it is cool and I guess kinda creepy looking at the same time.

Day 22 : Visitor

After my son’s parent teacher conference today this was the most interesting thing I could see to photograph. Isn’t it weird to look at a word long enough or in this case with “or” being somewhat out of focus and it looks like another word or two. VISIT OR ?

Day 21 : Snowy Trees

This photo was made while out on a drive in the highland/alpine area. Enjoy!

Day 20 : YoYo

YoYo! I love yoyos and thought it was about time to see what interesting photo I could make using one. The first photo is the yoyo spinning but the action is stopped because of a flash (speedlight). The second is a lot more interesting and was lit with a flashlight so we could get some motion while at the same time turning the background black. Lighting makes all the difference!

Day 19 : Gumball Party!

Today’s photo is a little different, but I like the results. This was shot through a vintage camera to add the dirty noisy look and lit with a flashlight and a small blacklight for the light painting. Different but cool huh?

Day 18 : Puzzled

This has got to be one of the hardest kinds of puzzle to put together because each piece is a little  bit of a hologram and as you move the pieces the image changes. Crazy and kinda gave me a head ache actually. Anyway her is a photo of it.

Day 17 : Light Test

This isn’t what I had planned for todays photo but…(actually I didn’t have anything planned like normal) I thought this pre photo shoot light test photo of our 3 year old was pretty funny. I believe he was just about done being “Dad’s helper” for a while. Oh and please forgive his messy hair. That is all.

Day 16 : Hard Drive

I have had a hard drive like this hanging in my office for such a long time I don’t even know when I first did it. Yes I’m a bit of a geek. For the non techie folks out there a hard drive is what stores data on a computer. This one is rather old and was kinda dusty when I made these photos but I was surprised at the results. The first photo is what it usually looks like on my wall, the platter is nice and shiny like a mirror. But the second photo is quite different as you can see. With the right light hitting the surface of the platter it turns a dark gray color shows lots of flecks and is not shiny at all. Weird huh? Is it the pits that have been written into the platter? I believe that is what it is but I never imagined being able to see this. Please correct me if I am wrong. Enjoy!

Day 15 : Little Boxes

Finally they have arrived! My wife (Becky Jeide) is a Trunk Keeper in Utah for Matilda Jane Clothing and this is this seasons new line of clothing by the name “House Of Clouds”. Matilda Jane is a great company and it is the little touches like how they package each seasons clothing that makes a difference. My wife thought this would make a great 365 photo and I have to agree.

Day 14 : Gardner Village

We made a little visit to Garder Village to take some photos for our son’s Valentines Cards that he will take to school. This is probably not the photo he will choose for his card but I love it.

I like this post processing sometimes and I think it works for this photo. I call it a vintage crunchy look.

Have a great day!

Day 13 : Fish and Game

Since my son had the day off of school today we decided to take a trip to Cabela’s and look at the fish, the game, and play at the rifle arcade range. Here are some photos I took from our visit. Enjoy!

Day 12 : Bread

Here is a photo of one of the things I enjoy doing. Baking Bread. Every week or so I bake bread for my family the old fashioned way. I grind the wheat and everything and here is a photo of the finished product. I just love cutting a freshly baked loaf of bread and putting a little butter and honey on it and eating it while it is still warm. So good!

Day 11 : Pinewood Derby Race Day

Todays photo was taken at my son Shawn’s first pinewood derby race. Everyone did great and had a fun time. Great job Shawn.

Day 10 : Sunset

Here is a photo of the sunset in Eagle Mountain tonight. Nice huh?

Day 9 : Cookies!

The last of our cookie stash put to use for a 365 photo. Now back to that diet.

I thought I would show you a bit of the evolution with creating my final photo by posting a starting image and then the final image that I like much much more. Can’t wait till tomorrows photo and maybe I will even make it while the sun is still up? Maybe!

Here is one of the very first photos that I took today of the cookies. Not great, but over the course of a few minutes look what I came up with for my final photo for today.

And here is the final photo that I came up with today.

Day 8 : Pin Clock

This clock always gets a lot of ohhs and ahhs when people see it in my house so I thought I would share it here. Yes the pins really move and it is a little noisy too. Enjoy!

Day 7 : Pinewood Derby Car

My son just turned old enough to join Cub Scouts and her is VERY excited about making his first Pinewood Derby Car. Heck he has only had 1 scout meeting and now gets to participate in the Derby, how cool is that? Anyway here are some of the pieces we have from the kit and I will post a photo of the completed car and or derby later. Hope the car does well as should know how to build these after doing it many times myself growing up in the Scout Program. Enjoy!

Day 6 : Yahtzee

Family fun night tonight was a game of Yahtzee. I don’t particularly like playing this game as it drags on and on with my kids playing, that and I don’t usually win as I go for a yahtzee almost every turn. :-)

Day 5 : Perplexus

After hours of play by all the Perplexus 3d puzzle game is by far a favorite both for my son that I gave it to for Christmas and all adults that have had the pleasure to put their hands on it. It is tricky, it is addictive, it is awesome! Get one or maybe two and try it out. Also if you have conquered your perplexus leave a comment as I would love to know how many people have made it to magic number 100. Enjoy!

Day 4 : Snow

This photo was taken outside my house of the snow chunks that our kids and their cousins stacked up while playing and  having a snowball fight.

Day 3 : Harley Davidson

Today’s photos are from my local Harley Davidson store in Lindon, Utah. Timpanogas Harley Davidson. It was a fun visit with the kids and their grandparents. Love all the chrome and mechanical muscle on display. Enjoy!

Day 2 : Ristorante

My wife and I just had our 10 year anniversary and to celebrate we went to Michelangelo’s Ristorante in Salt Lake. Very good, very good prices, great experience.

Here is a series of photos I made while we were there.
